Let's Film: WATZS Productions Engages Tulsa Screenwriters at Tulsa Lit Fest, Fostering Realistic Business Insights and Authentic Storytelling!

Updated: Jul 17

TULSA, Okla. — Lit Fest, an esteemed festival celebrating the city's creative spirit, proudly hosted Tulsa natives Kalisha Zachery and Kachelle Zachery this year. The sisters are Dallas-based owners of the renowned WATZS Productions, a media enterprise with over 15 years of experience in high-caliber productions.

As co-founders of WATZS Productions, they expressed their pride at being included in the sixth annual edition of this literary festival. Lit Fest is dedicated to nurturing community engagement, diversity, and inclusivity through the love of reading.

The event was graciously sponsored by Oklahoma State University-Tulsa’s Center for Poets and Writers, Fulton Street Books and Coffee, Tri City Collective, and Whitty Books.

Lindsey Smith, an esteemed English professor and the director of the Center for Poets and Writers, emphasized that this initiative aligns with the university's mission to engage comprehensively with the community. "Literature holds diverse significance for various individuals," remarked Smith. "Our objective is to cultivate a broad and inclusive perspective on literature while igniting enthusiasm for self-expression in its many forms."

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to both the organizers of Lit Fest and the Tulsa community members who participated in the workshop titled “Reality vs Perception: Succeeding as a Screenwriter.” Attendees were privileged to gain insights directly from Kalisha Zachery and Kachelle Zachery on optimizing their experiences in television and filmmaking. The workshop equipped participants with a profound understanding of navigating the business aspects involved in pursuing their purpose as storytellers and filmmakers.
